Monday, May 13Grade 9 students write their Language Arts (Part A) Provincial Achievement Test

Monday, May 13 - Grade 8 Outdoor Education students – Fish Creek Provincial Park Field Trip

Monday, May 13 – School Council Meeting at 7:00 pm in the Learning Commons – all parents welcome

Tuesday, May 14 – National Denim Day at Tom Baines (CURE Foundation Breast Cancer Fundraiser)  Businesses and schools across Canada will be wearing denim and the CURE’s “pink flower” ribbon on Tuesday, May 14th.  Please wear your jeans, and for a $1 donation, students will receive a pink flower ribbon to wear for the day.  Together we can make a difference! 

Wednesday, May 15  – Gauss Math Contest for participating Gr 7 and 8 students

Thursday, May 16 – Gr 9 Calgary Zoo Field Trip

Thursday, May 16 – Tom Baines Movie Marathon – from 3:30 pm to 11:00 pm – with Mr. Dougherty and Mr. Cooper

Friday, May 17 – NO SCHOOL – Organizational Day for Staff (& Staff Appreciation Breakfast courtesy of Tom Baines Parents)

Upcoming Important Dates

Wednesday, April 24th -  Sir Winston Churchill High School is having a speaker from Canadian Mental Health doing a parent session on stress at 7:00 pm.  Sir Winston Churchill is inviting any parents from Tom Baines who would like to attend the session. It is free of charge.

Thursday, April 25th – Tom Baines afternoon Spring Dance from 3:30-5:30 pm.  The cost is $3.00 with a non-perishable food item for the Calgary Food Bank (or $4.00 without a food donation).  *We are collecting non-perishable food item donations all this week.

Reminder: Student Led Conferences – April 17 and 18, 2013

Wednesday, April 17 – *Student Led Conferences from 5:00-8:00 pm.

Thursday, April 18 – NO SCHOOL – Professional Development morning for staff, *Student Led Conferences in the afternoon from 1:00-3:00 pm, and in the evening from 5:00-8:00 pm.

The SchoolSoft Conference Manager system https://tombaines.schoolsoft.ca/login.jsf is now open for parents/guardians to book online their Student Led Conference time(s) with teachers during the times listed above.  Physical Education teachers and Complementary Course teachers are conducting Student Led Conferences on a drop-in basis (with the exception of  Mme. Knebel).  *Your child must be in attendance, as all conferences are student led. 

Friday, April 19 – NO SCHOOL – Professional Development Day for staff.
